Fodreamy1on1: Mild Depression

Depression is a mood disorder characterizes by persistently low mood and a feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It is a persistent problem, not a passing on lasting on average of 8 months.

I came up with a theory; most mental illnesses are kind of linked up in a way. I do not know if it’s just me but personally most times I go through cycles where my anxiety triggers stress and stress triggers depression. That could just be me, it’s understandable cause mental health effects people differently.

Mid 2016 I hit rock bottom and I could barely believe how severe depression can affect one’s life. The signs that I have found to be common through all my cycles are:-

  • Losing interest in activities I normally enjoy; Blogging becomes a chore and constantly stay away from it
  • Changes in eating habits; Personally, I tend to lose weight with no intention cause of low appetite
  • Recurrent thoughts of guilt; constantly blaming myself for past mistakes and always feeling judged.

Be aware! Learn to spot the signs that lead you into depression. There’s always that one thing that makes you realize something has changed; acknowledge you are not well. I know how frustrating it can be when a wave of emptiness and mood change swipes up and you can’t seem to know why.

Depression differs from person to person and it’s important to seek help as the number of suicide deaths linked to depression keeps rising annually.

Over To You …

What are some signs of depression that you encounter?

Thank you for reading. New post Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

With Love, Jade.

  1. Hi, Patience.

It’s been a while since we last heard each other. 🙂 I’m also in the mid of recovering from mild depression. Staying away from social media for a while and climbing mountains helped me a lot. Ace’s support is such a wonderful blessing that helped me through the process. Although, I still feel lost sometimes, I feel better than before.
I hope you’re doing fine, too.

    Blessings! Love, Ace and Demi.
